Welcome to Nightingale Primary School PTA!

What we do:

We are a friendly and welcoming group of parents and carers who arrange events and activities to raise funds for the school and to provide opportunities for parents, staff and pupils to get together as part of the wider school community. In the past, these have included cake sales, a Santa’s grotto and a quiz night, as well as our annual Summer Fete.

Who we are:

We are a registered charity (registration number 1061850).  We elect a Committee annually, who act as the trustees of the charity and are responsible for managing our activities and making sure that the money that we raise is spent appropriately. All parents, carers and teachers become members of the PTA upon joining the school and everyone is welcome to attend Committee meetings and stand for Committee positions.

Fundraising and Spending - 2017-2018

In 2017/18 we raised just over £11, 000 which includes a £3,000 grant from the Tesco Bags for Help scheme.

In February 2018, the PTA funded the installation of a brand new jungle gym playground, which is used by children in years 1 through to 6 in break times and for PE lessons.

In September 2018, the PTA paid for the Science Museum to visit the school and deliver workshops for children in all year groups, as part of the Nightingale Primary School Year of Science.

We have a number of events and activities scheduled, including:

  • Autumn, Easter and Summer cake sales
  • A movie night for children and parents
  • A joint PTA and School Christmas Community Celebration and a Santa’s Grotto, including music performances from children in Years 3 and 4 and the School Choir.
  • A School Christmas art project, where the childrens’ artwork will be used on festive greetings cards which will be available for parents to buy.
  • Annual Summer Fete with stalls, fairground rides, a mobile Zoo and food and drink
  • The PTA will also be running events for parents, including a Quiz Night.

To make sure that you don’t miss out on any of our events, make sure that you check the PTA Noticeboards, sign up to the PTA mailing list (e-mail  your contact details to: ptanightingale@gmail.com)  or like us on Facebook (www.facebook.com/nightingalepta/).  You can also find details of our latest events on the PTA Notices section of this website.

Can you help us?

Nightingale PTA relies upon the support and generosity of parents and carers to help us to continue to raise funds and support the children, parents and staff at Nightingale Primary School. There are many ways that you can do this:

If you have 5 minutes

  • Sign up to the PTA Nightingale contact list to receive information about PTA events and activities
  • Volunteer to be a PTA contact for your class to circulate information about PTA events and activities to parents and carers via your class WhatsApp groups (e-mail your contact details to: ptanightingale@gmail.com)
  • like us on Facebook (www.facebook.com/nightingalepta/)
  • sign up to Give as You Live (simply visit https://www.giveasyoulive.com , search for Nightingale Primary School PTA and enter your details. Then every time you shop online, click through Give as You Live and a percentage of your spend will be donated to the PTA at no cost to you).

If you have 1 hour

  • come along to a PTA meeting (babies and toddlers also welcome!)
  • volunteer to help at one of our events.

If you have some free time in the week

  • Please consider becoming a member of the PTA Committee. We have a large variety or roles that can be arranged or shared to suit our volunteers. We are also always on the look out for ideas for events and activities, so do get in touch if you have any suggestions. You can reach us by e-mail or drop a note into the PTA mailbox outside the school office.
